Statement of Senator Feinstein on Recent
Loss of Bank of America Transaction Records

February 25, 2005
pdf version

“Ten days after the ChoicePoint breach of personal data involving between 145,000 and 500,000 people was revealed, today another breach of data was revealed this time by loss. Bank of America has lost several tapes containing the personal data of 1.2 million federal employees.

These two instances dramatize the need to take steps for the protection of an individual’s personal data. The Congress needs to address it. I believe it’s only a question of time until Americans demand it.”
