Oslo, Norway - The Nobel Peace Prize was presented to President Jimmy Carter today in Oslo, Norway. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and her husband Richard Blum attended the presentation. The following is the text of her statement:

"My husband and I were honored to have been able to attend the presentation of the Nobel Peace Prize to Jimmy Carter. We have known Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter as personal friends for many years, and it gives us great pleasure to see their work championing conflict resolution and human rights acknowledged with this award.

It was a beautiful moment and certainly offered a worldwide commendation for his service, his humanity, and his work throughout the world. He has shown decades of commitment to peace and justice, to the poor, and to bringing about democracy.

This award was long overdue."
