Taxis and Parking in Washington

Taxis are easy to come by in Washington. Your cab may charge on a "zone" system rather than using a meter. Because downtown locations are fairly close, you can often get to your destination for about $4.00 or $5.00. Taxis charge $1.25 for extra passengers, and there's a $1.00 surcharge to travel during rush hours.

Parking downtown is difficult. Parking meters are limited and you need to pay close attention to the posted signs or you may return to find your car has been towed from meters during rush hours. Parking garages charge between $10 and $22 a day.
