Korean
War Memorial
Information
The
Korean War Veterans Memorial is dedicated to all those who served
during the Korean War, the first major conflict of the Cold
War. On October 28, 1986, Congress authorized the American Battle
Monuments Commission to establish a memorial in Washington,
DC. Ground was broken in November 1993, and the memorial was
dedicated on July 27, 1995, the 42nd anniversary
of the Armistice.
The
garden memorial includes a reflecting pool, lifesize statues
depicting servicemen, and a black granite wall with murals of
actual men and women who served in the Korean War.
There
are park rangers available from 8:00 am to 12 midnight daily,
except Christmas Day. For more information on ranger programs,
