The Economy, Budget and Taxes
Senator Feinstein believes a strong economy is one that gives every American an opportunity to work and build a better life. She is working to expand opportunities in California and nationwide by targeting tax incentives and spending initiatives to areas where investment will boost demand quickly and create jobs. She is also working to eliminate incentives in our tax code that reward companies for sending jobs overseas. And Senator Feinstein remains committed to providing a safety net for unemployed workers until they are able to re-enter the workforce.
In this time of massive federal deficits and a ballooning national debt, Senator Feinstein wants to restore the sense of fiscal responsibility that guided Congress during the 1990s. Today, the federal deficit has risen to a record high, endangering our economy, imperiling Social Security and Medicare, pushing up interest rates, and increasing the amount of debt we owe to foreign countries. Senator Feinstein believes we must bring our budget back into balance while protecting the long-term health of Social Security.
