George
Washington's estate, overlooking the Potomac River, has been
restored to its 18th century colonial grandeur. The mansion,
slave quarters, stables and the tomb of our first President
and Mrs. Washington are among the points of special interest.
Mount Vernon is surrounded by formal gardens designed by George
Washington himself.
Located
on the banks of the Potomac River, Mount Vernon offers a spectacular
view from its veranda.
The
estate is open to the public every day of the year, April through
August from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, March, September, October from
9:00 am to 5:00 pm, November through February from 9:00 am to
4:00 pm. Admission is charged ($9.00 adults, $8.50 seniors,
$4.50 children, ages 6-11, under 6 free). For more information,
