Statement of Senator Feinstein on Agreement to Transfer Treasure Island from the Navy to San Francisco
“This landmark agreement will create jobs and spur economic growth just when the San Francisco Bay Area needs it most. Unemployment is averaging more than 10 percent in the Bay Area, and in some counties in the region it’s as high as 12 percent. So I commend Secretary Mabus and Mayor Newsom for striking a deal that will benefit taxpayers, the region and the Navy. After more than 10 years, we finally have a win-win on Treasure Island.”
