Senator Feinstein Congratulates Finalists of Science Award
February 10, 2000
Washington, DC U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today commended four California teenagers who have been selected as finalists for the Intel Science Talent Search.
I congratulate these young men and women for their hard work and innovative ideas, Senator Feinstein said. They represent the promise of our education system. Their work illustrates how much our children can achieve when we set high goals for them and give them the resources they need to achieve those goals.
Californias finalists will now compete with 36 other students from 13 other states and the District of Columbia for the grand prize worth $100,000.
The Science Talent Search was created in 1942 to discover and encourage high school students who demonstrate exceptional ability in science and engineering. It is the oldest and one of the most prestigious pre-college science competitions.
