
73 Senators say: Charles Schulz Should Get Congressional Gold Medal

Washington, DC Seventy-two other Senators have now signed on as cosponsors of legislation by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to honor Peanuts Creator Charles Schulz with the Congressional Gold Medal, well above the number traditionally needed to move the bill from the Banking Committee to the Senate floor.
Charles Schulz comic strip, Peanuts, brightened the lives of millions of Americans, Senator Feinstein said. The legislation has been passed by the House and has the support of 72 of my colleagues, demonstrating strong bipartisan support. I am hopeful the banking committee will allow this legislation to come to the Senate Floor for a vote, where I am confident it will be approved.
The bill would posthumously bestow the Congressional Gold Medalthe highest civilian awardon Charles Schulz for his half century of work creating the Peanuts Cartoon.
Seventeen Americans from the arts and entertainment world have received Congressional Gold Medals to date including: John Wayne, Walt Disney, Irving Berlin, Aaron Copland and Frank Sinatra.
