U.S. Department of Transportation Awards $230 Million
in Aviation and Transportation Grants to California

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation is awarding $118 million in aviation grants and $112 million in transportation grants to airports and jurisdictions in California.

“In a state as large as California, the ability to move people and goods is a critical part of keeping the economy moving in the right direction,” Senator Feinstein said. “These grants represent a major investment of federal funding and will help California improve its aviation and transportation infrastructure.”

• Arcata - $1,057,914 to rehabilitate taxiway and expand apron and to update master plan
• Burbank - $5 million for noise mitigation measures
• Cedarville - $918,000 to rehabilitate runway
• Chico - $650,000 to upgrade security system and gates and to rehabilitate taxiway
• Corning - $766,000 to acquire land for approaches and to conduct master plan study
• Fresno/Chandler - $1,666,000 to rehabilitate runway, apron and rotating beacon

• Orange Country Transportation Authority - $4,103,680 for eight 40-foot natural gas buses and to construct an intermodal facility in Buena Park
• The Southern California Regional Rail Authority - $1,989,316 for San Bernardino Metrolink Extension Project
• The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority -$19,621,574 for Tasman Corridor Extension
• The North San Diego County Transit Development Board in Oceanside - $4,680,161 for the purchase of 15 natural gas buses and a natural gas fueling station to be built in Escondido
• Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority - $3,435,491 for 8, 60-foot low-floor articulated buses
• The Riverside Transit Agency in Riverside - $2,466,994 for design and engineering of a bus facility on a site owned by the Agency in Perris, Ca. The site will accommodate 50 buses at first, and expand to 200 buses as demand increases
• The City of Folsom - $1,465,794 for design and construction of the City of Folsom Historic Railroad Block Multi-modal Transportation Facility
