"You could spend a week at the Smithsonian" is a time-honored Washington tourist observation. It is the world's largest museum complex.

The museums are open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm (extended summer hours are determined annually). Most museums offer free highlights tours daily on a walk-in basis.
